About I am a Materials Girl
Founder: Kate Quinlivan
Currently a senior at The Benjamin School, I have a profound passion for materials science and engineering. My interest in this field stems from its interdisciplinary nature—bridging physics, chemistry, engineering, and sustainability to solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Beyond I am a Materials Girl, I founded my own nonprofit Materials Girls to help others discover their own scientific passions. Specially inspiring young women to pursue careers in fields where they may be underrepresented. Through various research and internship opportunities, I’ve been able to take full advantage of hands-on learning experiences that have expanded my understanding of materials science and its impact. Each experience has deepened my curiosity, sharpened my skills, and reinforced my commitment to both scientific exploration and empowering others to find their place in STEM.
